A writing agent is software you direct through conversation that can help plan, research, draft and revise inside one persistent writing project. The useful difference is not how much text it can generate. It is whether the project survives the prompt.

Lock one fact
Return much later and ask for work that depends on it. A project-aware agent should retrieve the decision rather than make you restate it.
Point at one passage
Ask for a narrow revision. The selected text should change while the rest of the draft holds still.
Contradict the project
A useful agent catches the material conflict, explains it briefly and asks before changing an unrelated decision.
Leave and return
The project, conversation, draft, research and history should still be there. A browser session is not a memory system.

What is a writing agent?

How is a writing agent different from an AI writing assistant?
An assistant usually helps with a bounded task such as rewriting a paragraph, checking grammar or generating options. A writing agent can do those jobs, but it also carries the larger project forward: it tracks what has been decided, chooses the relevant next action and works directly in the evolving draft.
Is a writing agent just a chatbot for writers?
Conversation is the control surface, but it is not the whole product. A chatbot's primary artifact is the conversation. A writing agent's primary artifact is the writing project: the manuscript, project records, research, history and professional files that survive any one exchange.
Is a writing agent the same as a literary agent?
No. A literary agent is a person who may represent an author in publishing negotiations and submissions. A writing agent is software for developing and drafting the work. StoryProp does not submit, pitch or publish a manuscript on a writer's behalf.
Does a writing agent make creative decisions for the writer?
Not in StoryProp. It may lead with questions, recommendations and concrete options, but the writer keeps creative authority. Suggestions remain suggestions until the writer accepts them, and the agent does not silently edit unrelated material.
Can a writing agent write a complete book or script?
Yes, when the writer explicitly asks for that scope. StoryProp normally drafts in small increments so the writer can react and direct the work. A request for a full chapter, episode, act or complete work authorizes that named scope without approval gates between sections.
