AI short story writer

Try the other ending. Keep both.

Experiment with characters, settings, styles and endings without losing control of the original idea. A short story is small enough to risk everything on a choice, and StoryProp keeps every version you gamble.

The Spare — ending Akept

Daniel sat. The cup was warm in his hands, and the chip faced her, and neither of them mentioned it, which was how she knew he would stay.

The Spare — ending Balso kept

Daniel looked at the cup a long moment, and then at the door. The coffee was still steaming on the table when the latch clicked, and Mara turned the chipped cup back around, flaw facing out, for anyone to see.

Small form, high stakes

Built for the story you rewrite nine times.

Short fiction is revision. The safety net is the feature: try the risky version, and the version you loved is still there.

Duplicate

Fork the story, not the file

Duplicate a story to chase an alternate direction. Each copy is independent, with no branches or merge ceremony to manage.

Compare

Versions side by side

Hold an earlier draft against the current one and restore any of it non-destructively. Nothing that came later is lost.

Voice

Style as an experiment

Ask for the same scene tighter, colder, or in close third. Each is a pass you direct, never a silent rewrite.

Finish

Out the door, clean

Professional exports ready for submission, with any byline you choose and nothing of ours added.

Fair questions

What short-fiction writers ask first.

Is this a one-click short story generator?

No, deliberately. Drafting is small by default and directed by you — an opening, a paragraph or two, then back to your hands. If you want a complete draft of a named scope, you ask for it explicitly, and it stays yours to reshape.

Can I experiment without wrecking the draft?

Yes. Duplicate the story to fork an alternate direction, or revise in place knowing every earlier version is retained, comparable and restorable. A whole agent pass undoes as one action, so even a big swing is a safe one.

Can it help me find the ending?

That is what it is for. It will offer two or three genuinely different endings with the reasoning behind each — what each one pays off, what it costs — and you choose, combine or reject them. The decision stays yours; the drafting of it is fast.

Can I try the same story in a different voice?

Ask for the scene tighter, colder, in close third, in present tense — each is a directed pass you can keep or discard, and your original is always still there. Style experiments never silently overwrite the version you loved.

Does it handle a collection?

A project can hold multiple works in the same family, so a collection lives together with its shared context while each story stays its own piece.

Is the export ready for submission?

Exports are clean, professionally formatted manuscripts with the byline you choose and nothing of ours added — no watermark, no AI notice, no branded filename. Where the work goes next is your call; StoryProp's job ends at a file you are proud to send.
